Work Placements
As part of McFadden Construction’s partnership with Leeds College of Building, McFadden have recently offered placements to two students from the college to aid their current studies on The Advanced Diploma in Construction and The Built Environment.
This placement is an excellent opportunity for the two students, both female, to improve their knowledge of the construction industry within an active company. It will also encourage the growth in connections between Leeds College of Building and McFadden Construction.
The students were asked to comment on their placement;
“My name is Lauren and I am currently studying an “Advanced Diploma in Construction and the Built Environment” at Leeds College of Building. During this course I am required to take part in a ten day work placement with the company of my choice.
I chose to carry out my work placement at McFadden Construction.
The reason for this was that I wanted to experience the Construction Industry within a company that will allow me to see first hand how multi-million pound, fast pace projects are developed.
My desired outcomes for the placement are to gain a new understanding of what really happens in construction and see how a project is constructed from initial enquiry through to delivery of the final product.
During my time with the company, I hope to be able to observe professionals at work in a busy working environment and see how they distinguish and resolve issues that may arise within numerous projects.
Throughout my two weeks, I also hope to be provided with the knowledge of the professionals at McFadden and be given the opportunity to visit live sites to see how the numerous elements of the construction process are put together.”
“My name is Nikita I’m a student at Leeds College of Building currently studying on the Advanced Diploma in Construction and the Built Environment. As part of my qualification I am required to take part in a ten day work placement at the company of my choice.
I chose to complete my work experience at McFadden Construction because I wanted to be in a company that had the resources to hopefully give me a detailed insight into the various procedures that have to be undertaken in order to construct a reinforced concrete superstructure, this interest is due to wanting to find out more information on the many different forms of construction and in the current industry concrete frames are a wide spread, effective and in demand form of building.
During my two weeks with the company I hope to get the opportunity to go out on a live site and see first hand some parts of the construction process.”
